WEEK 6 (TRANSPLANTING AND MAINDRAINAGE AND FIELD DRAINAGE)

Activities

On week 5, we didn't had any class because all of us are having eidulfitri celebration. After all of us are came back into the college, it was in week 6. For this week, We continued with doing the main drainage and field drainage. Its function to prevent the water logging when the day are having heavy rain. After that, we are having a few problems which is only 30% of the seeds that we germinate before the holiday are a live and the rest of the seeds are dead. It is because the seeds didn't get enough water and also has been exposed to the sun directly. We tried to replant a new seeds and it took 3 weeks late from the day we do it. For the seeds that has been successfully germinate, we started to transplant on our plant bed. For my class, we choose long bean (Vigna unguiculata spp. sesquipedalis ) and okra ( Abelmoschus Esculentus ) . The function of the transplanting is for the further growth and development.

                

                                                                                                                               

Challenge

The challenge for this week is to keep the seeds still alive. Since the weather are too hot and the seeds need a lot of water to keep the germinate process. Perhaps, we can't watering the seeds on eidulfitri holidays because the gate are closed. That's the main of the reason the seeds dead. The seeds didn't get enough water and has been exposed to the sun directly.

Costing

For the coasting, we are having a lost costing since the seeds was dead. It took around RM15 for the one bag of peatmoss,RM121.90 for the seeds, RM40 for the fare charge an lastly RM460 for the watering plant charge for 8 days. We also spend RM 4 for the mini tools that we use in transplant process.

Reflection

From this week, what I've learn is how to manage the seeds while having the germination process and also know what the plant requirement for the growth. Besides, I've learn how to doing the main drainage and the field drainage and also know the function of the drainage. It might require a lot of energy and the patience while waiting for the seeds process, but i enjoyed doing all of this.
